Kikambala Aid Trust

to provide water, electricity and sanitation in Kikambala villages

Having recently returned from our visit to Kikambala, we are pleased to give an update on the work.

The upgrade of wells in the Kanamai area is ongoing. Wells have been cleaned and where necessary dug deeper. This work is of course not immediately noticeable. Lids are in place and final fixing and rendering is in process. We were able to see clean water being drawn from wells and pumped from a renovated Bore hole.

The well at Kikambala childrens home has been upgraded and a new metal lid fitted. We were able to deliver money which was used to renew the roof of the toilets/showers. The very poor makuti roof was replaced by corrugated iron sheets.

Ropes and pulley have been bought for a well at Porini.

Two small toilet/shower blocks have been completed in Maweni and Kadzengo.

Mains water has been connected in Kadzengo and a water tank installed.

We were requested to assist in the completion of a community well at Kadzengo. Since our return water has been reached, a ladder and lid purchased and the well is ready to have an electric pump fitted.

Requests for connection to electricty have been submitted to Kenya Power for the villages of Maweni and Jumba( Mtwapa).

Site visits were made to land at Nyati where a well will be dug.
